Community Voices Virtual Gathering
Friday, October 11th
10:00am–NoonThe Ripple Project is pleased to extend an invitation to those providing sexual assault and prevention services within culturally specific communities to join in Community Voices Advisory Network.
Meetings occur on the 2nd Friday of each month.
There will be 3 opportunities to gather in person in August, September and November at the ASHHO Cultural Community Center (Tumwater). Registration is waived for agencies receiving Culturally Specific "Marginalized" and Native American funding. For those unable attend in-person in August or September, you can register here to participate virtually. (Be sure to pack a lunch for the LIVE gatherings, if your joining us remotely!)
Gatherings enable us to:
Build connections and a sense of community among members,
Identify recommendations to be shared with OCVA about how culturally and linguistically based sexual assault services maybe more widely accessible to participant’s community members.
Track progress toward “transform[ation of] the sexual assault services delivery system so that inclusion, diversity, and multicultural [humility] become a justice imperative. ”
Discuss the ongoing statewide funding reallocation process and other changes at the state level (availability of training, consideration of any potential changes/updates to Culturally Specific and Native American Sexual Assault Service Standards, etc.)
The purpose of Community Voices is to strengthen, at a statewide level, the network of people who have lived experience as members of and who are providing services within culturally specific communities across Washington State.
The goal of Community Voices is accessible, culturally responsive services to all victims/survivors of sexual violence and other tools of oppression.
Participants in Community Voices shall receive training certification for equivalent hours for continuing education as required by Culturally Specific and Native American Sexual Assault Services Standards.
